Accra, Ghana – August 10, 2026 – The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and Commonwealth Games Association (CGA) Ghana commends Team Ghana for an inspiring performance at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, describing the team's campaign as a true reflection of the fighting spirit that defines the Ghanaian.

Competing against some of the finest athletes from across the Commonwealth, Team Ghana faced a highly competitive field of world-class opposition. Despite the intensity of the competition, Ghana's athletes rose to the challenge, working harder, pushing their limits, and delivering respectable results that brought pride and honour to the nation. Their performances demonstrated the talent, commitment, and potential of Ghanaian athletes on the international stage.

The GOC/CGA pays special tribute to Ghana's medal winners, Zinabu Issah for winning silver medal in T57 shot putt women, Amadu Mohammed who won bronze in men 55kg boxing and the bronze medal winning 4x100m relay team made up of Joseph Paul Amoah, Mustapha Bopkin, Saminu Rasheed-Abdul and Benjamin Azamati who demonstrated a remarkable teamwork, speed, and determination against some of the world's best sprint teams.

The Committee further applauds the entire Team Ghana contingent across athletics, para athletics, boxing, cycling, judo, swimming, para swimming, para powerlifting, and weightlifting. From medal-winning performances to strong displays by athletes who advanced deep into their competitions, the team showed the Ghanaian spirit a never-say-die attitude. The GOC/CGA also recognises those who narrowly missed the podium, as every athlete contributed to Ghana's proud representation in Glasgow.

The GOC/CGA expresses profound appreciation to the Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, corporate partners as GCB Bank PLC, Eezzy Group Foundation, the Ghana Sports Fund, coaches, technical officials, medical personnel, team management, the media, Ghana's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and the Ghanaian community in Scotland for their invaluable support. Their collective efforts created the platform for Team Ghana to compete confidently and represent the nation with distinction.

As the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games come to a close, the GOC/CGA believes the experience gained will serve as a foundation for greater achievements. The focus now shifts towards building on this performance and preparing this team, alongside emerging talents, for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, with improved preparation, targeted development, and stronger support systems.

The Ghana Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association Ghana believes the true success of Team Ghana's campaign were  beyond medals won, but the courage, unity, resilience, and fighting spirit displayed against world-class opposition. The Committee salutes every athlete and member of the delegation for making Ghana proud.
