Ghana crushes out of Rio 2016 qualifiers

Ghana vs CamerounGhana have been eliminated from the Rio 2016 Women's qualifiers after losing on the away goals rule after drawing 2:2 (3:3 on aggregate) with Cameroun at the Accra Sports stadium on Saturday.

The Queens went into the game, buoyed by their 1:1 drawn game with the Cameroonians in Yaoude two weeks ago. They took the lead in the 18th minute through Samira Sulemana but the away team equalised before half time.

Portia Boakye restored the Queens' lead in the second half but a momentarily loss of concentration by the Queens allowed substitute Agnes Nkada to score the crucial away goal that sent Ghana crushing out of the competition.

It will be recalled that the national male Olympic team, the Black Meteors were also eliminate by Congo-Brazzavile in their qualifiers earlier.
