Fifa U-20: Ghana end Argentina’s 10-year undefeated record

CelebArgentina had played 19 consecutive games at the Fifa U-20 World Cup without defeat in open play prior to their Group B meeting with the Black Satellites of Ghana on Tuesday morning in New Zealand. Infact, the Argentines last lose at the tournament dates back to a 1-0 reverse versus USA at Netherlands 2005.

But the South American football power-house were dealt a killer blow when the Black Satellites held off a late charge by Humberton Grondona’s boys to win 3:2.

Striker Benjamin Tetteh opened the scoring with a deflected effort minutes to end the first half. Playmaker Clifford Aboagye capped a brilliant display with a picturesque goal in the second half before, before Yaw Yeboah's penalty seemingly sealed the result, though late Giovanni Simeone and Emiliano Buendia goals meant a tense finish, but nothing more.

Ghana now leads the Group with four points after two matches, and need to secure a draw in their last game against Panama to qualify for the knock outs.
