 Amasamaan Architect Explains

Member of Parliament for Trobu Amasaman Constituency, Hon. Moses Anim has commended the sports media for supporting the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) in its ambition to develop and bring to life the proposed site for the OlympAfrica Sports Complex.

After touring the site for the third time with the media on Wednesday when the Architect, E.M. Quartey of Atelier displaced the conceptual drawings and allowed journalists to ask questions and make positive contributions, the Member of Parliament congratulated the GOC President, Ben Nunoo Mensah for his courage, intention and vision to ensure that the abandoned 17 acres site is used for a good purpose for Ghana and the community.

Hon. Anim noted that the purpose for the site must be fulfilled to get the projects completed and maintained to last for a long time, as the media provide constructive criticism.

According the Architect, OlympAfrica Ghana would be fitted with three football fields, comprising two astro turfs and an athletic oval as well as a hostel, kitchen, multi-purpose sports hall / pavilion, swimming pool and the main center with offices, conference hall, and clinic.

He hinted that there would be a spacious car park and site for commercial activities for the community.

Ben Nunoo Mensah said the facility would be a tourist attraction when completed as there would be the OlympAfrica Village and Ghanaian sports heroes would be remembered with their names on the gates to the site and buildings.

He stressed that work would start as soon as other stakeholders have contributed like the media did, when literature and history of the site is ready.

The GOC President informed that the site which was hitherto a forest was cleared free of charge by Decker Engineering and Construction and the community sports facility where young sports people between the ages of 6 to 16 years can train and host competitions would be open for corporate Ghana to fund and brand.
