Adjetey wins silver at Las Vegas Champs

David Koney Adjetey Las VegasAfter winning silver last Saturday in the Las Vegas International Taekwondo Championship, US-based Ghanaian taekwondo athlete, David Koney Adjetey, is confident of qualifying for next year’s Olympic Games, scheduled for Rio.

This year’s Las Vegas International Taekwondo Championship saw over 600 taekwondo practitioners across the globe competing for medals.

Adjetey, who is preparing feverishly for the African Olympic qualification in February next year, lost 7-9 to Armenian fighter, David Gevondy, in the Las Vegas International Taekwondo Championship.

Moments afterwards, he told Daily Graphic that he was focused on his training for him to make a mark and participate in the global showpiece in Rio.

“I am pleased with my performance because I manage to apply most of the techniques I have been working on at the gym.

“With the way my preparations are going, I believe I will qualify for the Olympic Games when the qualifications begin,” he said.

He said as part of his preparations, he was joining camps with the US national team to make him more competitive for the Olympic qualifications.
