Team Ghana in Samoa for CYG

574791113SB128_2015_Commonw 1A 7-member Ghanaian team has arrived in the Oceania country of Samoa to participate in the 2015 Commonwealth Youth Games which will be held from 05-11 September.

The 10-day competition is meant for athletes aged 14-18 years across 71 Commonwealth nations in 9 different sports.

The team, which is made up of three athletes and a swimmer, two coaches and one official, left Accra for Samoa on Monday 31st August.

The athletics team includes Salomey Agyei, Hellen Maasotuo, Richard Seklorwu and Coach Salamatu Musa.

2014 Commonwealth Games participant Jackson Abeiku Gyekye and his coach Mr. Kwodwo Abbiw Jackson lead Ghana’s campaign in swimming pool.

The Deputy Secretary General of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Rev Richmond Quarcoo is leading the Ghana contingent at the Games.

The Ghana Olympic Committee and the Commonwealth Games Association are funding Team Ghana’s participation in the Games.
