GOC opens Technical Course for Volleyball Coaches

IMG_0811As part of its commitment to supporting coach education and development in Ghana, the Ghana Olympic Committee and Olympic Solidarity have opened a 13-day Level 2 Technical Course for Volleyball Coaches at the Accra Sports stadium on Monday, 27th July, 2015.


The course, which is the first of its kind in the country for volleyball coaches since 2000, is being attended by 35 coaches drawn from the ten regions, security services and the Ghana Education Service.


Participants will be thought Theory of Training, Teaching Technical Skills, Coaching Aspects, Beach Volleyball, Advanced Tactics, among others.

Beach Volleyball has seen a big rise in fortunes in recent times with the national team winning a surprise bronze medal at the 2011 All Africa Games in Maputo.
The male national team has also qualified to participate in the 2015 World Cup in Holland.


Ghana Volleyball Association President Paul Atsu said the course could not have come on at a much better time with the 2015 All Africa Games less than six weeks away. He also charged the coaches to take the course seriously and transfer the knowledge gained there to the grassroots.


Meanwhile, the Deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Olympic Committee Rev. Richmond Quarcoo said the GOC will not relent in its efforts at supporting the growth of national federations by sponsoring more Technical Courses for Coaches in the country. 

The course is being supervised by two German instructors namely Dr. Christian Kroeger and Johann Huber.
