Adjetey proud to have represented Ghana at World Taekwondo Champs

ooOPENINGGhanaian taekwondo player David Koney Adjetey is happy to have represented Ghana at the 22nd World Taekwondo Championships, in Chelyabinsk, Russia.

The competition started on Tuesday, May 12 and ends today Monday May 18, 2015.

The USA based athlete was eliminated in the +87kg category after losing 16-8 to Tuarai Hery of French Polonisia in his first fight.

Although the result was not exactly what he wanted, Adjetey was grateful for the opportunity to compete at the highest level again with the support of his fans.

“Thank you all for your awesome love and support. I am very grateful to have competed and represented my motherland Ghana in such a prestigious event,” he posted on his Facebook page.

Adjetey, who recently earned a Ghana Olympic Committee sourced Rio 2016 Olympic Scholarship, is also keen on picking up from where he left off in Russia.

The Adjetey machinery was not there today and my worse performance but i know God has a plan for me. Thanks everyone for your love and support. Not the results I wanted but God knows best and in Him i trust. Time to get back and fix my mistakes,” he said in another post on social media.

Meanwhile, three other Ghanaian players competed in the Championships in Russia.

The single eliminator competition saw Charles Cromwell lose 16 - 7 to Iran’s Alizerra Nassrazadany in the -68kg, Danielle Pelham losssing narrowly to Jordan’s Taleen Hamaidi with the scores at 5-6 while Ahmed SAMA was defeated 16-3 by Croatia’s Toni Kanaett in the 74 kg category.
