Ghana’s 72 athlete contingents for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games are set for the grand opening ceremony tomorrow at the Carrerra Stadium.

The team would be led by 2014 Glasgow Games’ boxing bronze medallist, Abdul Wahid Omar, who is also an Olympian from the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Captains of the team, Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe and Umaru Nafisatu would also be on standby to offer the needed support to the flagbearer and leaders of the team.

Ghana now has the full complement of her athletes, technical and administrative officials for the games and they would all be present at the opening ceremony of the games.

President of the Commonwealth Games Association of Ghana (CGA-Ghana), Ben Nunoo Mensah together with his secretary General, Richard Akpokavie have backed the team with their presence in Gold Coast.

They gave the athletes and officials Ghanaian pins for exchange with their colleagues from other countries as it is the practise in such multi-sports event.
