Team Ghana Is Preparing Adequately For Commonwealth Games – NSA Boss

Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Mr. Robert Sarfo Mensah is optimistic Team Ghana would put up a better performance at the upcoming 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.

According to Mr. Sarfo, Ghana won 2 medals at the last Games in Glasgow, Scotland, but with the current preparations of the various disciplines, they are aiming at a minimum 5 medals.

Speaking with the media at a reception held the Australian High Commission to raise awareness and funds for the team, he said the sports men and women who are in camp are responding well to the training regimes of their technical schedule, and are determined to make names for themselves and bring laurels home.

President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) Ben Nunoo Mensah is also hopeful that Team Ghana would excel in the disciplines that they are going to compete in.

Ben Nunoo Mensah who is also the President of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF) noted that the weightlifters have been doing well in recent times and he is very sure they are going to break records.

He called on corporate Ghana to invest in sports as sports is a great tool for advertising and marketing. He added that supporting sports is a responsibility for the whole nation as sportsmen and women go out as ambassadors and also advertise the nation, like Akwesi Frimpong did at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Coach Ofori Asare, coach of the national Boxing team, the Black Bombers is also very confident in his boys.

“As you know, boxing is always our medal hope and we cannot disappoint” he told Yours Truly.
