The 2017 edition of the annual McDan Ga Adangbe Unity Cup was lifted by hosts, La Town XI.

The star studded La side beat Tema by a lone goal from Kwame Kizito, to receive the gold medals and winners cash prize of $2,000 from dignitaries including former President J. J. Rawlings, the La Manste, Nii Kpobi Tettey Tsuru, Tema Manste Nii Adjei Kraku, HE Amarkai Amarteifio and Dr. Dan Mckorley.

Tema who put up a spirited show with their twinkling rising stars collected the silver medals and cash prize of $1,000.

Nungua beat Teshie on penalties to win the third place bronze medals and cash prize of $450.

Benjamin Annang of La who was voted Best Player trophy of the tournament got $200, with Goal King trophy going to Maxwell Quaye also of La collecting $150, and Best Goalkeeper Kotei Blankson taking home $150 and his trophy, as well as Fairplay prize going to the La Supporters Union going away with $200.

All the medalists including fourth place received drinks such as Verna Water and Run Energy from Twellium Industries Gh Ltd.

Before the tournament the eight teams were given participation fee and kits including jerseys, pants and hoes.

The event which is the brainchild of McDan Shipping and Logistics Company attracted a large crowd and drew ex internationals like Stephen Appiah, Laryea Kingston, Emmanuel Armah, Ablade Kumah, Eden Dida and others.

Many players and fans who spoke to Yours Truly commended Dr. Daniel Mckorley and his directors and managers as well as the media for putting up a great commnity event with international flavor as discipline of the fans was top notch.

Obodai Sai, Marketing Manager of McDan Shipping said the crowd was overwhelming and hinted that it indicates the golden touch of McDan’s CEO Dr. Dan Mckorley who has promised to build an astro turf pitch for the community.
