Sports News Exclusive: GOC visits OlympiAfrica project in Kegue, Lome

The President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) Ben Nunoo Mensah on Thursday led a high powered delegation of GOC executives to pay a working visit to the OlympiAfrica project in Kegue, Lome.
Alassane Diake, Director of OlympiAfrica who invited the GOC welcomed the delegation to the Eda Oba Hotel where he promised to support Ghana to build their project at Amasaman near Accra.

He led the GOC team to tour the large facility which has an Astro turf pitch and 200meters oval six lane tracks.
He assured the GOC of further assistance from other sponsors and investors.
Other facilities at the five hectares plot are a multi purpose court for handball, volleyball, basketball and grounds for wrestling in the sand and jumping events.
The Director of the Lome facility, Philippe Thon  said the entire project cost $700,000 with the backing of other companies, and they are very transparent and accountable to the International Olympic Committee IOC.

Director of the Ghana facility Mr. Emmanuel Olla Williams said the GOC is willing and ready to learn from their Togolese counterparts and improve. He assured that when the Amassman project, which is 3 hectares comes up,  and it would be properly maintained.

“Getting this project at Amasaman done is going to be a legacy and the chiefs and people of Amasaman are going to produce some of the nation’s best athletes because the project would be operated professionally” said Paul Atchoe Vice President of the GOC.

Other members of the GOC delegation were Nana Mankattah, executive member and Mr. Emmanuel Olla Williams, the director who is a sports organizer and businessman.
