Ghana To Host 2018 Africa Armwrestling Championship

IMG-20170630-WA0046The Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) has won the bid to host the 2018 Africa Armwrestling Championship in Accra.

The African Armwrestling Federation after considering bids from Morocco and Ghana decided on the later in a majority vote during it’s Congress in Lagos, Nigeria.

“Ghana is said to be the gateway to Africa and we’re convinced that they’re more than capable thus Africa will have a better host”-Julien Boumsong, General Secretary for Africa Armwrestling Federation.

16 countries are expected in Ghana for the annual Continental Armwrestling Championships in June 2018.

Meanwhile, the Golden Arms of Ghana are back home from Nigeria with *a total medal haul of 22 placing an overall second* at the 2017 Africa Armwrestling Championships. They got GOLD 10, SILVER 6 and BRONZE medals, which is a record by any Ghanaian team in an international competition.

IMG-20170701-WA0080Meanwhile, President of Ghana Armwrestling Federation, Mr Charles Osei Asibey has been elected unto the Africa Armwrestling Federation board as the Deputy General Secretary during the Federation’s 8th Congress in Lagos, Nigeria.

Aside the administrative role as Deputy General Secretary, Mr Osei Asibey has been made the competition and Events Director for the African Federation until 2020.

Until the elections, Mr Osei Asibey was one of the two Executive Committee Members of the AFA board.

IMG-20170630-WA0051Charles Osei Asibey, who serves on the Executive Committee of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) is also the Communications Director of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).

The former sports mater and ace broadcaster also served as Communications Director of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF).
