Japan Embassy to celebrate 2019 Japan week with sporting activities

The DG Hathramani Hall at the Accra Sports Stadium will be the venue of attraction this weekend as the Japan Embassy in Ghana hold sporting activities to mark this year’s celebration of the annual Japan Week. The embassy has called on Ghanaians to join in their celebration and also witness their traditional sports like judo, karate and kendo championships.

The Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, Tsutomu Himeno has expressed high hopes of the sporting fiesta and is of the view that this year’s Japan week celebrations will be unique and will showcase pure Japanese culture and tradition. He recounted the exploits of past athletes in the Japanese martial arts who have excelled in one way or the other.

He added that he is of the believe that projection of the martial arts sport will help promote self-defense and self-respect practice at all times. In recent years the Japanese combat sports has attracted the eyeballs of many Ghanaians far and beyond.

The judo, Karate and Kendo championships will usher into sight the Japan week celebrations commencing from the 9th -16th November 2019 at the Police Fitness Center, Police Headquarters, Accra.
