YOG 2018 CDM Pleads For Support

Evans Yeboah, Chef Du Mission for Team Ghana at the recent Youth Olympic Games in Argentina has appealed to government and corporate Ghana to come to the aid of the nation’s sports men and women and support them to excel.

Speaking to newsmen after the ten man Team Ghana touched down from the YOG 2018, he commended the young sports men and one girl who represented Ghana.

Ghana’s contingent at the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina did well by improving their personal best records.

They were promised a cash prize of $5,000, $3,000 and $2,000 if they win gold, silver and bronze medal respectively at the Games.

The team comprising of five athletes, four coaches and a chef de mission are at the third Youth Olympic Games from 6th-18th October, 2018 was captained by young swimmer Abeiku Jackson.

Other members of the team are male beach volley pair of Eric Tsatsu and Kevin Carboo, Sandra Mensimah Owusu - female weightlifter and Solomon Diaffo - 400 metres runner, with their respective coaches.

Mr. Yeboah Evans, Chef de mission said the team was poised to return with medals, but the competition was keen and weather conditions affected Tean Ghana.

He commended the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Authority for a great job by putting together the trip, with attractive bonus structure and good preparation ahead of the event.

Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of GOC, challenged companies in Ghana to supports sports and sports personalities.
