2023 LOC Tasked To Stage Best African Games In The History Of The Competition

The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has inaugurated a 9 member local organizing committee (LOC) for the 2023 African Games with a clear conviction that members of the committee would organize and produce one of the best African games in the history of the competition.

“I have no doubt that they can organize and produce one of the best African games competitions in the history of the games and help the country regain her pride of place among the elites 40 nations in Africa, he said’.

The president also commended the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, who assembled a solid team of experts to bid successfully for the event to be held in Ghana.

He underscored the need to construct an Olympic Stadium Complex that would host the games for 25 different disciplines.

He said, the complex will comprise an administration block, hostel facilities, research facilities, among others, noting that procurement processes for the takeoff for the construction is almost completed.

On his part, the Minister for youth and Sports, Hon Isaac Kwame Asiamah expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic, whose vision it was for Ghana to bid for the right to host and organize the African games in 2023 and his firm support during the bidding process which led to Ghana’s victory as the host of the 13th African games.

He noted that, the information of the LOC is a requirement of the African union commission who are the custodians of the African games, to ensure the smooth organization and coordination of all aspects of the Games.

He was very excited to see the LOC Ghana 2023 being inaugurated by no other person than the President himself who is a passionate lover of sports.

Members of the LOC include Dr .Kwaku Ofosu Asare, Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Emmanuel Owusu Ansah, the technical advisor of the Ministry Of Youth and Sports, Mr. Reks Brobby, a former Olympian, Dr Mrs. Beatrice Dwumfour Williams, a clinical psychologist, Ms Joyce Datsa, a sports administrator, Mr. Dan Kwaku Yeboah, sports journalist, Mr. Ahmed Osumanu, Communications consultant to the Ministry Of youth and Sports, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah, GOC president and Samson Deen, the NPC president who is yet to be sworn in.
