Madam Elizabeth King, chairman of the Womens’ Commission of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has applauded the decision by president Nana Akufo Addo to lift restrictions on contact sports.

King who is also the vice president of the Ghana Hockey Association (GHA) and an executive member of the international hockey federation said “it is pleasant news and welcoming one too, as there are international tournaments early next year, in February and Match, and they were wondering how they can play without training, so it is a welcome news”.

She has been an inspiration to many hockey players and personnel of the Ghana Prisons Service who are in sports.

She urged all players to be motivated by the words of the president, step up their training and eat well especially local dishes.

She noted that many lessons have been learnt in the Covid-19 era and sportsmen and women should be in the forefront in educating the public on the pandemic.

She advised Ghanaians to keep wearing their face masks, wash hands with soap under running water and use sanitisers.
