GOC President Wants Martha Bissah To Run For Ghana At Gold Coast 2018

Ben Nunu Mensah, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has said he would have wished suspended Ghana gold medalist, Martha Bissah participated in the Commonwealth Games with the country next year.

According to him, Martha Bissah is an awful talent with the capability of winning many laurels for Ghana if she is part of the contingent for the Commonwealth games next year.

“I think the feud between the GOC and Martha Bissah must be resolved amicably before the games. If we can do something about the issue this is the time because as we move on her mind will continue to change”, he said

Mr. Nunu Mensah revealed that he had a conversation with the athlete some time ago but she claims Ghanaians do not cherish what she has done for the country.

He expressed that, Martha Bissah and his management are ready to apologize if the Ghana Athletics Association is able to table her fault.

“The issue has moved beyond the GOC and I want people to understand that the rift was not a GOC problem but rather the Ghana Athletic Association (GAA). The GAA also have their own rules and they are guided by that” he added.

Martha Bissah who won Ghana’s first ever gold medal was suspended by the GAA following a misunderstanding between the two.
