2017 CAF awards gala to be hosted in Accra

Accra will, for the fifth time, host the CAF awards gala.

The 2017 Confederations of African Football (CAF) awards gala will be hosted in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

The continent’s football governing body on Wednesday confirmed Accra as the host city for the awards event.

This will be the fifth time that Accra has been chosen as the host city for the CAF awards gala, after the event was first brought to the capital in 2006.

The awards gala will come off on January 4 2018, with CAF set to award players – both male and female – who excelled over the past 12 months.

A 30-man shortlist has been released for the African Footballer of the Year Award, including frontrunners Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, Saido Mane and Mohamed Salah.

A host of dignitaries from CAF, as well as football association heads from across the continent are expected to grace the occasion.

The CAF awards gala is expected to be held at the Banquet Hall, State House, in Accra.
