Government ready to support Ghana FA - Deputy Sports Minister reveals

Perry-Okudzeto

The Deputy Sports Minister, Perry Okudzeto has revealed that plans are underway to ensure the resumption of the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

According to him, the Sports Ministry has been engaging the Ghana Football Association (GFA), health officials and respective stakeholders to determine the current state of affairs as regards the COVID-19 pandemic and the possibility of resuming football and other sports in the country.

Due to the CoronaVirus pandemic, sporting activities and other forms of social gatherings in the country have been suspended.

There has been mounting pressure on the Ghana FA to determine the fate of the suspended season as countries on the continent and outside make decisions about the football season.

The deputy sports minister revealed that “Just like Germany and other countries have done following health directives, we are also doing same and certainly football would resume very soon.”

“We have missed our game and players are eager to get back to what they know how to do best. However, we must be sure it is actually safe so we do not put people’s lives in danger,” he concluded.
