Defending Champion George Darko clinched his second National Ranking Tour title of the year when he defeated Jeff Bagerbaseh 7-6(4), 6-4 last Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The victory will see Darko retain his status as the number one seed when the rankings are released on Monday while Bagerbaseh will climb to second-place ahead of Wisdon Na-Adjrago on the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) rankings.
Darko required a tie-break to win a nervy first set 6-4 but pulled-off a memorable come-back to win the second set 6-4.
With McDan Open champion, Bagerbaseh cruising 1-4 and looking to force a third set, Darko rallied spectacularly, winning five games in a row and wrapping-up the tie in spectacular fashion.
"The first set was close and it took a lot of my energy," said Darko, 24. "When Jeff too a 4-1 lead, I wanted the second set to be over quickly but I dug deep and got the win."
With top ranked Francisca Nyarko (1) missing through injury, experienced Kate Coleman clinched the women's ranking title with a 6-4, 6-2 demolition of Faustina Tagoe.
Coleman, a police officer defeated Mariam Blepo 6-0, 6-1 in the semi-finals on her way to claiming the women's title.
However, Coleman disappointedly had to pose with the male trophy because the Women's Ranking Tour does not have a trophy.
